Open Hours & Admission Related Information

When is Heronswood Garden open?
We are open to the general public April 1st through the 3rd Sunday in October, Wednesday through Sunday, from 10am – 3pm.

What is the cost of garden admission?

  • Adults: $10
  • Youth (ages 7 – 17): $5
  • Children (ages 6 and younger): Free
  • Free for members of Heronswood Garden and of the Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribal Community

What COVID-related precautions are required for visitors?
We follow current Port Gamble S’Klallam Health Department guidelines for public health. As of Spring 2021, we require guests to:

  • Wear facial masks/coverings at all times;
  • Observe the one-way garden path directional signs;
  • Maintain social distances of 6 feet; and,
  • We kindly ask that you not visit if you are running a temperature/are feeling ill

Are dogs allowed at Heronswood?
Yes, on a short leash and kept out of the garden beds. Please clean up after your pet.

Can I visit Heronswood outside of its regular public entry hours?
Guided weekday tours led by one of Heronswood’s professional garden staff can be booked via the Events Calendar on our website. We operate a limited number of scheduled tours and during the pandemic, the maximum number in a group is 15. We use the Whisper tour guide system so the tour guide is mic’d and participants have sanitized earpieces and receivers, which allows for social distancing and clear audio reception of the speaker.

Plant Sales

Does Heronswood have an active plant nursery?
During the garden open season we have plants from Windcliff Plants (the private nursery of Dan Hinkley and Robert Jones) on sale at the Heronswood Ticketing & Information Plaza. Heronswood’s 2021 open season runs April 1st through the 3rd Sunday in October, Wednesday through Sundays, 10am-3pm.

During normal years, we host five seasonal plant sales that feature outstanding Pacific Northwest nurseries. There are no public plant sale events scheduled for 2021 due to the pandemic.

I want to purchase a plant I saw in the garden or at a previous plant sale.
Heronswood does not sell plants, but you may be able to find what you are looking for through our vendor partners. Click here for more information.

Garden Membership

Can I purchase/renew a Heronswood Garden membership when I visit?
Yes, you can purchase or renew a membership in person at the Garden’s Ticketing window. If you visit the garden and decide after touring you’d like to become a member, the garden admission fee you paid will be applied toward your membership fee.

What should I do if I lost/forgot my membership card?
Just let us know and we’ll send you a replacement.

Which membership levels allow me to bring a guest?
The Friend membership level or higher. Visit our Membership page for more information.
